A native of Chicago, Illinois, Special Deputy Attorney General/Acting Assistant Prosecutor Temperance Williamson works for the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office and is the Chief of the Special Victims Unit. Prior to that, she served as the Chief of Grand Jury and Chief of the Trial Section. During her tenure at the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office, she has worked in the Domestic Violence Unit, Juvenile Unit, Grand Jury Unit, and the Trial Team. Ms. Williamson has tried a variety of cases, via bench and jury trials. She has spent the last 16 years fervently advocating for justice, on behalf of victims and defendants alike.
Ms. Williamson was admitted to the New Jersey and Pennsylvania Bar in 2005, the Illinois Bar in 2013, and obtained her Juris Doctorate from Rutgers’ School of Law- Camden in 2005. After graduating law school, she clerked for the Honorable Michael J. Kassel, J.S.C., Civil Division, Camden Vicinage.
Ms. Williamson is certified by the State of New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety Division of Criminal Justice Police Training Commission to teach various legal topics to law enforcement officers. She is one of the founding members of the Diversity Council at the Gloucester County Prosecutors Office and is currently the Chair of the External Committee. As the External Chair she planned the 2022 and 2023 Juneteenth Celebrations, in conjunction with the Gloucester County NAACP. She is a member of the New Jersey Black Prosecutors Association, the Association of Black Women Lawyers of New Jersey, and the Garden State Bar Association, where she currently serves as the Southern Region Director. She served as a Moot Court Judge for Jack and Jill of America. She serves the community as President of the Parent Teacher Organization and Vice-President of a condo association board. In her spare time, Ms. Williamson enjoys spending time with her beautiful daughter, reading, traveling, and rooting for the Chicago Bears.
