Allison Sheppard holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Temple University, a Master of Business Administration from Stockton University, and a Juris Doctor from Widener University, Delaware Law School. Ms. Sheppard is a New Jersey Certified Public Manager through Rutgers University, School of Public Affairs and Administration (SPAA).
Ms. Sheppard advanced through various titles within the New Jersey Division of Taxation, Audit Activity, including Auditor 3, Auditor 2, Auditor 1, and Conferee 1, Taxation. Ms. Sheppard was a member of the New Jersey Division of Taxation Audit Task Force which was responsible for in-depth analyses of audit procedure.
Her former role was with the New Jersey Division of Taxation, Counsel Services. With extensive statutory and regulatory expertise, she focused on several disciplines of tax law including New Jersey Gross Income Tax, Corporation Business Tax, Pass-Through Business Alternative Income Tax, Controlling Interest Transfer Tax, and Transfer Inheritance Tax. Ms. Sheppard was also Administrative Practice Officer overseeing all of the Division’s rulemaking procedure.
Ms. Sheppard is currently Head of Internal Audit for the New Jersey Department of the Treasury ensuring that systems and procedures in Treasury’s 13 agencies are consistent with the requirements of statutes, regulations, and policies.
She is admitted to practice law in New Jersey. She is a speaker for the New Jersey Institute of Continuing Legal Education. She is also an author of New Jersey State Tax News articles published for the tax and legal community.
Ms. Sheppard is dedicated to mentorship service. She mentored for the Bridge Builders Esq. National Mentorship Program for Aspiring Black Lawyers where she developed and managed a learning plan designed to lead law school candidates and assist in their transition into law school. She was also a featured panelist speaker for the 18th Annual National Black Pre-Law Conference and Law Fair event at Harvard University. Ms. Sheppard is chairwoman of the Association of Black Women Lawyers’ (ABWL) A Legacy Realized Mentoring Program. She is responsible for overseeing the program which covers all participating schools in New Jersey.
In her spare time, she speaks and continues to study the Spanish language as she moves towards an advanced level of proficiency.
