From President Jennifer Downing-Mathis, Esq.
Greetings Accomplished Bold Women Leaders,
As my term has come to an end, I will take a few moments to reflect on this fantastic yet challenging year. I had no idea that shortly after my installation, my life would be forever changed when my beloved Mother passed away suddenly. This tragedy in my life occurred less than a year after losing my father unexpectedly. I will forever cherish the speech she gave at my installation ceremony. I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to my E-board, Committee chairs, Ms. Ann Watkins and Past Presidents who helped me successfully lead this organization; their dedication was unwavering. I also thank all the wonderful ladies of ABWL-NJ, who supported me this term.
We experienced phenomenal growth in new membership and fundraising this past year which I hope continues. We increased our digital footprint, our presence on social media and had a successful scholarship golf outing and banquet, a first for this organization. Most importantly we survived another uncertain year of the Covid-19 pandemic.
There is still more work to do as we are continuing to explore moving our funds to a black-owned bank. As the world emerges from the Covid-19 pandemic hopefully we can host multiple fundraising events year-round. We also cannot forget planning our 50th anniversary extravaganza.
I am grateful to our founders and the opportunity to lead this organization and I hope I made you proud during my 2021-2022 presidential term. I wish the very best to President Kimberly Deal and her E-board during the upcoming term.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Downing-Mathis
2021-2022 President, ABWL-NJ
