HONORABLE F. MICHAEL GILES, J.S.C. (RET.)
The Hon F. Michael Giles, J.S.C.(Ret.), of West Orange, passed away on December 30, 2021. He was admitted to the practice of law in 1974 and served as a Superior Court Judge from 1991- 2010. The Hon. Judge Giles was predeceased by his wife Grace Marie Simmons Giles, his daughter Renita Michelle Giles, and his son Dr. Randall Marc Giles. He is survived by his daughter April Johnson. All burial arrangements are private however there will be an upcoming Funeral Mass on January 22, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church. Due to Judge Michael Giles’ active citizenship, before and after joining the judiciary, he was instrumental in getting Black judges appointed to the bench in NJ and ending up with a judicial appointment himself. He was also accessible to and supportive of law students, lawyers, BLSA, ABWL-NJ, and paralegal students over the years. The Hon. Judge Giles was a supporter and friend and will be deeply missed.
